draft Schedules of Items and Specifications for Land Mobile FM Radio
Communications Equipment (RADIOS) and Land Mobile FM Radio
Communications Equipment (REMOTE CONTOLS) are available on the Forest
Service homepage on the Internet for your review and comment. Upon
request, they may also be obtained hardcopy from the office listed in
this synopsis. The two solicitations (a small business set-aside and a
non-set-aside) will be issued in early March 1998, and will be
available on the Forest Service homepage on the Internet and upon
request, as hardcopy from the office listed in this synopsis. To find
the Forest Service draft Radio Solicitations on the Internet follow
these instructions: 1. Use your browser to open the URL address
http://www.fs.fed.us/ which will put you at the Forest Service
homepage. 2. Select the topic "What's New" from the Forest Service
homepage. 3. Select the link "Request for Comments, Radio Contracts".
4. You are now on the Forest Service National Radio Contracts page. 5.
Select any of the five topic links or the printing instructions link.
6. The various links within the five topics will take you to the
different sections of each topic. 7. The Home link in the documents
will take you back to the Forest Service National Radio Contracts page.
8. Print, Save As, or Download ALL of the documents you need for this
solicitation. NOTE: The narrowband specifications and wideband
specifications within the RADIOS Minimum Standard Specifications are
separate documents. The configurations within the RADIOS Schedule of
Items is also a separate document. If you need these documents, Print,
Save As, or Download them also. These documents are provided to you to
indicate the type of equipment planned for purchase and to solicit
comments prior to the solicitation. Hardcopy comments will be accepted
until February 16, 1998, and should be sent to: USDA -- Forest Service
Attention: Ralph Flora IRM, Room 808 RP-E 1621 N. Kent Street
Arlington, VA 22209 Equipment offeredto the Forest Service must be on
our Qualified Products List prior to the closing date of the
solicitation. Therefore, prospective offerors should plan to submit
equipment for evaluation not later than February 27, 1998. Evaluation
and testing takes a minimum of two weeks for each piece of equipment.
All shipments of sample equipment submitted for evaluaiton shall be
coordinated with Ralph Flora at (703) 235-2944 prior to shipment. All
required test adaptors and connectors and a maintenance manual shall be
