70 -- SOURCES SOUGHT TO PROVIDE COTS SOFTWARE FOR INTEGRATED LIBRARY SYSTEM DUE 021398 POC Mr. DeLuca, 703/696-3843 ext. 1403 DoD Education Activity (DoDEA) is conducting market research to seek qualified sources capable of supplying commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software to automate the information processing requirements of approximately 240 school libraries in DoD-operated primary and secondary schools world-wide. The software will be required to provide cataloging using Machine-Readable Cataloging (MARC), Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), Z39.50 retrieval, transmission and reception, internet access, and maintenance of all records related to circulation, patrons, serials, fines and acquisitions. The software will also be required to read and print barcode labels, print book spine labels, and produce all the reports and outputs normally required in a library, such as overdue book lists, inventories and reservation notices. The software will run on Pentium 120 MHz Personal Computers with 16 MB RAM and 1 GB hard disk, using Windows for Workgroups and Windows NT operating systems in Novell Netware and Windows NT Local Area Networks. DoDEA will give consideration to existing government contract sources, such as DoD contracts or General Services Administration Schedule contracts.
