The following = information is provided in accordance with FAR 12.603: ( i ) This is a = combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in = accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with = additional information included in this notice. This announcement = constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a = written solicitation will not be issued. Prospective bidders should = request a copy of the 3-sheet drawing SDN44102910 (Bulkhead Development = Unit/TRANSHAB), and drawing SDN44102909 (Coupon, Bulkhead Development = Unit/TRANSHAB) in order to prepare their quotation. These drawings will = be provided in both CGM and DXF format on a 3 1/2 inch high density = floppy disc. A CAD file in Pro-E format will also be made available to = the successful bidder. (ii) The solicitation is being issued as a = Request for Quotation (RFQ). XXXX (vi) The following is a description of CLIN requirements: = (a) Rothe Joint Venture (RJV) will provide from NASA-JSC two each = billets of E4340 steel 96 inches X 96 inches X 6 inches thick per ASTM = A829 Condition A for the fabrication of the two Bulkhead Development = Units. Material is immediately available for shipment to the successful = bidder. The successful bidder should examine raw material upon delivery = and call RJV subcontracting officer immediately if there are concerns = regarding raw material thickness versus finished thickness of Bulkhead. = (b) The Bulkhead Development Unit should be rough machined prior to = heat treatment. Subcontractor should leave approximately 0.12 inches of = extra material all the way around the part from the finished dimension. = Provide a 1.0 inch radius on all inside corners to minimize stress = concentrations during quenching. Heat Treat per MIL-H-6875 to 150 -- 170 = KSI ultimate strength per drawing. (c) Four test coupons should be = fabricated per drawing SDN44102909. (d) Notes on Drawing SDN44102910, = Bulkhead Development Unit/TRANSHAB, are mandatory. (e) Workmanship and = processes (i.e. heat treating, metal finishing, painting) require = Certification of Compliance. (f) RJV approval is required prior to = shipment of any article that does not conform to specifications.
