amended to further define the scope of work and to identify the
principal design disciplines that will be considered in evaluation of
the qualifications. The RFP will provide detailed project description,
requirements, and available backup information. The relocation project
will include: (1) Inspection and documentation of existing conditions
of each structure prior to the move, including hazardous materials and
soils investigations; (2) Design of transportation systems for the
lighthouse, other buildings, and cisterns. Granite fence footing will
be dismantled and placed in storage; (3) Clear and salvage vegetation
along move corridor and at new site. Salvaged vegetation to be placed
at a holding site for replanting by others after the move; (4) Design
of new foundations at new site. Provide design for rough grading at new
site; (5) Secure the work site and provide for visitor viewing areas.
Develop project information status reports suitable for release by NPS
to the public; (6) Cap and abandon connected below-grade utilities at
existing site. Relocate or demolish existing aerial utilities at
existing site as needed to accomplish the work; (7) Move all light
station structure; (8) Repair all damage occurring as a result of
preparation, moving, and placement of historic structures on new
foundations. Repair must be accomplished to the pre-move condition; (9)
Demolish and remove the transportation system; (10) Leave any below
grade foundation remnants in place at old site. Backfill and level
excavations at old site; (11) Provide electrical service to lighthouse
at new site from existing source to make light functional. This may be
a temporary aerial service. Backfill and rough grade new site; (12)
Provide as-builts of move preparations, move pathway construction, and
new foundations. No new paving, parking facilities, or sanitary and
stormwater lines will be required under this contract. In addition, the
RFP will include previously-generated drawings (including original 1869
lighthouse construction drawings) and various reports and photographs.
Principal disciplines involved in the design effort will include, but
not be limited to, historic architecture, structural engineering,
geotechnical engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, civil
engineering, electrical engineering. Standard Forms 254 will be
required for each firm and a Team Standard Form 255 for the
design-build team. Incidental disciplines, not requiring 254's, may
include, but not be limited to, archeology, hazardous materials
surveying and abatement, architectural conservator, historic landscape
architecture, CADD and word processing, and public relations. All
other information publicized in the original synopsis is correct.
