E-MAIL: Keith D. Hutto, khutto@ems.jsc.nasa.gov. NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for Aerospace multi-axis precision machining and Assembly Support. The contractor shall produce, inspect and deliver hardware items that shall be identified in individual delivery orders to be issued under the basic contract. The contractor may be required to perform 5 axis full contouring metal cutting, heat treating, surface treatment, and mechanical assembly of flat, cylindrical, contoured, angular, concave, convex, spherical, and a combination of these characteristics to form unusual geometric shapes on work piece sizes up to 85 by 130 inches. Other multi- axis work pieces may vary to 8 foot diameter by 12 inches thick and 12 inches by 12 inches by 25 foot long. Tolerances may range from plus or minus .032 inch to plus or minus .0001 inch. Surface finish specifications may range from 250 to 32 RMS. Must be able to work from Electronic Solid Models using Pro-Engineering or IGES files. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item usingFAR Part 12. See Note 26. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 3769 and 1000 employees respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurement is DO-DC-09. The provisions and clauses in the RFO and model contract are those in effect through FAC 97-02. All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about January 20, 1998 with an anticipated offer due date of on or about February 20,1998. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B".
