The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) intends to award a contract to Tingley Rubber Corporation, South Plainfield, NJ, a small business, to procure up to 200,000 Multipurpose Overboots (MULO) over the next 3 years which are chemical and biological protective overboots that provide optimal traction on both ground (grass, rock, dirt) terrain and wet-soapy metallic surfaces (smooth steel). Tingley is the only known supplier of these items who possesses the skills, technical capabilities and quality control disciplines required for fulfilling an outsole: e.g. polymeric materials, material hardness, temperature effects, surface contact angle. In addition to providing chemical warfare agent resistence, the MULO must be resistant to petroleum, flame, and biological attack. The MULO must be highly durable, flexible, tear resistant, have a high tensile strength and be used under a variety of surface and weather conditions.
