On or about 26 January 1998, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of LOGAN CREEK FLOOD PROTECTION PROJECT, PENDER, NEBRASKA. Bids will be opened on or about 03 March 1998. This solicitation is unrestricted and open to both large and small business participation. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact the Area Engineer's Office, Fort Crook Area, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, P.O. Box 13287, Bldg. 527, Offutt AFB, Omaha, Nebraska 68113, Telephone 402-293-2550. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Provide 1.5 miles of flood protection for the city of Pender by constructing flood walls and levees. Work includes clearing and grubbing, top soil stripping and replacing, building compacted embankment (150,000 CY) and channel slopes, applying crushed rock surfacing (6,300 LF), and constructing 2 drainage channels (2,300 LF); build flood walls (1,150 LF) and closure structures which include driving steel sheet piling, reinforcement and concrete work, and the fabrication and installation of metal closure panels; construct 11 drainage structures which include fabrication and installation of pipes and outlet structures, flap gates, timber piling, and painting. Other work includes construction of turnouts, road raising, berm work, removal and installation of new barbed wire fencing, finish grading, and seeding. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 510 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
