will include completion of Postal furnished 30% architectural and
engineering documents (Drawing and outline specifications) to 100%
completion and to construct an approximately 21,500 square foot new
main post office with parking and landscaping on a 3.53 acre site. Work
includes all site development, associated utilities and building
construction consisting of a high-bay workroom (one story), and a
retail and support module. Construction systems include load bearing
cavity masonry walls, steel frame, roofing system (including standing
seam metal system at building entry), and light gauge metal stud
interior partition construction. The facility is fully heated, air
conditioned, and fire suppressed as required by local code. Security
systems are in accordance with postal established requirements. Site
work includes curbs gutters and paving to provide parking for
customers, employees and postal equipment. Site development included
paying for and securing allpermits, tap fees and utility connections
fees. Completion time for this project is 300 calendar days from Notice
to Proceed. To be considered responsive a firm must have a minimum of
10 years building experience including previous design/build projects.
Other requirements include the following: (1) Successful completion
and favorable references for similar projects, (2) Financial stability.
The proposals will be evaluated in the following areas listed in
descending order of importance: (1) cost/price, (2) proposed schedule
for design and construction, (3) previous experience, (4) references,
(5) financial stability. Award will be made on the offer determined to
be in the best interest of the Postal Service. Project cost range is
$2,100,000 to $2,600,000. A Preproposal meeting will be held at DC
Metro FSO on January 20, 1998, @ 11:00 am. Offers are due by 2:00 PM on
February 17, 1998. Plans and Specifications will be available on or
about January 6, 1998 at $85.00 per set, Non-Refundable, referencing
