NESDIS intends to to negotiate on a sole source basis with Satellite and Computer Systems, Inc. to provide scientific/technical support for the activities of the GOES Data Collection Service's operational DAPS system which serves 14,000 DCS platforms transmitting 112,000 environmental data messages per day. Evaluates periodic (daily, monthly, etc.) logs and reports for the current system and make recommendations to ameliorate agency/user concerns and make suggestions for improvement. Coordinates with the Office of System Operations (OSO), and manufacturers in resolving Data Collection Platform (DCP) related problems, and maintaining/improving customer service interface. This also involves support for the planning of a proposed DCS study which includes technical insight of the current DCS operations for participating in and making contributions to interagency technical groups concerned with the specification and re-design of GOES DCS management and customer interface systems that are to meet the user's science and information management requirements.
