Office of Transportation Technologies (OTT) seeks to acquire support
services for the Office of Heavy Vehicle Technologies (OHVT) program.
The objectives of the OHVT program are to develop the enabling
technologies that will support the introduction of high efficiency,
fuel flexible, ultra-low emission diesel engines and truck vehicle
systems into the marketplace. The strategy is to focus R&D efforts on
improving the efficiency, reducing the emissions and enhancing
alternative fuel capability of the Diesel engine, which is also the
engine of choice for buses, locomotives, inland marine and off road
construction equipment. The major R&D areas required for this
development are combustion, emissions control, fuel formulations,
storage technologies for gaseous and liquid alternatives fuels,
reduction for vehicle parasitic energy losses, light weight materials,
and electric and hybrid propulsion technologies. These technologies
will be developed in partnership with the engine manufacturers, vehicle
manufacturers, fuel producers, and their suppliers which will enable
heavy vehicles to operate optimally on any given fuel, conventional or
alternative, while meeting emissions standards. THE SOLICITATION WILL
