Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) is seeking potential sources
who have specific technical knowledge and resources in the
investigation of state-of-the-art development for new battery
technologies. These technologies should be capable of meeting the
growing need of Navy air deployed sonar systems. The required
technology would be specifically applied but not limited to future
sonobuoy systems. The general performance requirements are as follows:
1) Power: 4600 watts; 2) Mission Life: 4 hours; 3) Shelf life: 5
years; 4) Total Pulse Time: 200 ping seconds*; 5) Single Pulse Width :
10 seconds maximum (10% duty cycle); 6) Activation time (if
applicable): 1 minute (maximum); 7) Open circuit voltage:100 volts
minimum; 8) Form factor: 4.75 inches diameter by 8 inches long* (right
cylinder); 9) Weight: 2 pounds; 10) Temperature range: -20 to +55
degrees celsius*; 11) Shock: Water impact of sonobuoy 12) Hydrostatic
Pressure: 300 pounds per square inch; 13) Other : Environmental Impact
(Biodegradability)and Personnel Safety. *Requirements marked with
asterisk are goals and may be relaxed. This is a request for
information only. No solicitation will be issued. Interested sources
must provide detailed technical documentation that would allow NAWCAD
to perform a in-depth technical analysis of the potential technology
advancements or product improvements being pursued or that may be
currently available. All sources who possess technical expertise in the
area of new battery technologies are encouraged to respond to this
request. *Sources responding to this request shall assure that any
information submitted to the Government shall be appropriately marked
(i.e., information determined by the responder to be sensitive or
proprietary in nature). NAWCAD especially encourages the participation
of Small Business, Small Dis-advantaged Business, Women Owned Small
Business Concerns, and Historically Black Colleges. Interested sources
