10 -- ANODE, COPPER/LEAD-TIN FOR CHROME PLATING SOL Sources for anode DUE 010998 POC John Palmer, Contracting Officer, SIOWV-PPR, 518-266-5618, fax 518-266-4682 Looking for sources to manufacturer a copper anode used for chrome plating the bore of cannons and similar items. The anode must be manufactured to the following requirements: Copper Requirements: o Grade 101 (OFC) or 110 (ETP) copper, 99.9% pure o Maximum length of 400.00 " -- Consisting of a maximum of 5 sections (4joints) maximun outside diameter of 4.00" {Typical machining tolerances of +- .005" -- +-.01"} o Maximum straightness tolerance of .030" o Joints will be threaded (with pilot diameter) and pinned, { typical machining tolerances of +-.002" -- +- .005"} { typical co-axiality tolerance of .005"} Semi-Finished Lead Requirements: o Maximum lead length of 400.00" { typical lead length tolerance of + .50"} o Maximum cast lead outside diameter of 6.00" { typical lead diameter tolerance of + .12"} o The preferred method of lead disposition is Casting on the copper core. However, additional lead deposition techniques can be proposed, as long as all tolerances, requirements, and restrictions are met or exceeded. {typical lead thickness tolerance of +.12"} o Lead must be deposited on the entire length of copper. Leading shorter sections of copper and then threading them together is not acceptable. o Lead must be homogeneous and chemically bonded to copper. o Composition of lead must be 93% lead and 7 % tin {typical concentration tolerance of+- 2%} Finished Machined Lead Requirements: o Maximum finished machined lead length of 400.000 " { typical lead length tolerance of +-.005 -- +-.01"} o Maximum finshed machined lead outside diameter of 5.00" {typical lead machining tolerance of +-.002" -- +-.005"}{ maximum critical mating surfaces tolerances of -.002"} Additional machine detailing: o Machine and thread holes into lead and copper, perpendicular to the anode surface. {typical machining and depth tolerance of +-.005" -- +- .01"} { typical angular positioning tolerance of +- 5 degrees} { typical axial positioning tolerance of +-.01"} Delivery time: Delivery of completed anode within 3 months or less is preferred to met plating requirements. All contractors interested in providing the type of anode described above should express their interest by faxing a reply entitled "anode manufacturing source, attention John Palmer" to 518-266-4682. Replies should be submitted no later than January 9.1998 (0352)
