D -- MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT OF NETFRAME SERVERS, LOCATED AT FEMA DENTON, TX, BLUEMONT, VA, HYATTSVILLE, MD, AND WASHINGTON, DC -- AMENDMENT A001 SOL EMV-1998-RQ-0004 POC Maria L. Amendment A001 is issued to the above combined synopsis/solicitation for maintenance and support of 18 government-owned NetFrame Servers. This amendment is issued in accordance with FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only amendment of the above solicitation, quotes are being requested, and a written amendment will not be issued. This amendment is issued to revise the synopsis/solicitation and to furnish questions and answers concerning this synopsis/solicitation. (1) Change under equipment to be supported at, item "(2) National Processing Service Center, 1104 Dallas Drive, Suite 200, Denton, TX 76205 -- 1 (S/N K00971); 1 -- 450 (S/N K01394)(Total 2)." to now read: "(2) National Processing Service Center, 1104 Dallas Drive, Suite 200, Denton, TX 76204: 1 -- 8590 (S/N K00971); 1 -- 450 (S/N K01394)(Total 2)." (2) Delete the last sentence of notice, "This procurement is subject to the availability of funds." Funds have been made available for this procurement. (3) QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: Question No. 1: What are the makes and models of each tape backup system for each server? Answer: A. The models located at Washington, DC are DLT and DDS 2/8 B. The models located at Mt. Weather Emergency Assistance Center, Bluemont, VA are DLT, DDSI and DDS2. C. The model located at the NPSC Hyattsville, Maryland is DLT. D. The models located at the NPSC Denton, Texas are DLT and DDSI. E. The models located at NTC Denton, Texas are DLT and DDS2. Question No. 2 What is the model for the server at the National Processing Service Center, 1104 Dallas Drive, Suite 200, Denton TX 76205 with S/N K00971? Answer: The model number is 8590, S/N K00971. Question No. 3: Are refurbished/certified parts acceptable if new original equipment manufacturers parts are no longer available? No. Contractor shall use only new original manufacturer parts as stated in the synopsis/solicitation. Question No. 4: The RFQ says to base the estimate of on-call service on one day's travel to each location. Is it acceptable to base the cost of a service cost on actual projected travel of less than 1 day if the actual travel will originate less than one day's travel from the destination? One day was used as a base due to the various locations involved and unknown point of departure of the contractor. Contractor must provide on-call hourly rates plus estimated travel. The actual travel cost for each on-call service location will be submitted in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations. Question No. 5: What is the maintenance history for each of the servers included in the RFQ? Answer: There is no documented maintenance history for the servers. Question No. 6: What is the maintenance history for each of the tape backup systems included in the RFQ? There is no maintenance history for these tape backup systems. Question No. 7: What is the telephone technical support history of call frequency and/or problem resolution for the servers listed in the RFQ? The government does not keep any logs documenting the quantity of calls or frequency. Contractor is required to provide unlimited telephone technical support on a twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week basis as stated in the synopsis/solicitation. Question No. 8: What is the value of the incumbent's contract? If there is no incumbent, what was the duration and value of the previous incumbent's contract and what services did it cover compared to the current RFQ? There is no current incumbent. A short-term purchase order was issued for similar maintenance, however, it cannot be compared to this requirement. This procurement will be the base to determine the value and cost history for these services. AMENDMENT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Quotes must acknowledge receipt of this amendment before the hour and date specified in the synopsis/solicitation. Failure of this acknowledgement to accompany the RFQ may result in rejection of your quote. If as a result of this amendment you desire to change a quote already submitted, such change may be made by letter. The letter must refer to the solicitation and this amendment, and received before quotes are due. The synopsis/solicitation EMV-1998-RQ-0004 is amended as indicated above. The hour and date for receipt of quotes is not changed. Except as provided herein, all other terms and conditions of EMV-1998-RQ-0004 remain unchanged and in full force and effect.
