This is not a notice for a solicitation but rather a request for information (RFI) for an upcoming U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) procurement; a separate announcement will be published for the actual solicitation. The Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF) of the Water Resources Division (WRD) of the USGS has a requirement for steel measuring tapes (100', 200', 300', 500'), with and without reels, which must meet some specific requirements ("salient characteristics"). At this time, the USGS is conducting market research for vendors who may be able to provide commercially-available tapes which meet the specific needs of the HIF. The salient characteristics of the tapes may be accessed on the USGS's website at http://www.usgs.gov/contracts. In the event that a firm does not have access to the world wide web, a hard copy of the requirements will be provided upon written request. Vendors capable of providing the types of tapes listed above, commercially, are invited to respond. Any pricing information submitted that contains restrictions on its disclosure will be returned to the vendor. All responses are due December 22, 1998.
