Brightseat Road, Landover, MD 20785 R -- EXHIBIT DESIGNER SOL RFQ98C-5 POC Ruth R. Nelson, Contracting
Officer, (202) 707-8610 WEB: The Library of Congress,
http://www.loc.gov. E-MAIL: The Library of Congress, mday@loc.gov. The
Library of Congress seeks design assistance in the design, fabrication
specification, and installation supervision of a major exhibition
exploring the tremendous legacy of Freud and psychoanalysis on the
twentieth century. The exhibition will include approximately two
hundred two- and three-dimensional artifacts. The exhibit will combine
traditional display techniques and methods, bold graphics, and film
and television clips in a way that is compelling and meaningful to the
Library's diverse audiences. SIGMUND FREUD: CONFLICT AND CULTURE will
be located in the newly renovated galleries of the Library's Thomas
Jefferson historic Northwest Gallery and Pavilion. The exhibition will
open on October 14, 1998 and then travel to sites here and abroad. The
space layouts of other venues will be considered during the design
process. The exigency of the matter requires that the Library and the
successful contractor adhere to strict time schedules. The selected
design firm will work closely with the Interpretive Programs Office,
which develops and produces Library exhibits and bears the prime
responsibility for this exhibit. The designer will be responsible for
the overall design of the exhibition including the floor plans, layouts
for existing cases, artifact presentation, graphic and label design and
presentation, as well as the overall ambience of the installation.
