office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of CONVERT
BARRACKS TO ADMIN. FACILITY, FORT CARSON, COLORADO. Bids will be opened
on or about 21 January 1998. SOLICITATION OF BIDS WILL BE RESTRICTED TO
8A COMPETITIVE BIDDING. Contractors interested in inspecting the site
of the proposed work should contact the Fort Carson Resident Engineer,
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bldg. 849 O'Connel Blvd, Fort Carson, CO
80913, Telephone: (719) 526-5448. FAX (719) 526-5365. The work will
include the following: (Approx. quantities) Renovation of existing
Building 1011 (3 Floors). 1st Floor (15,360 SF) and 2nd Floor (10,330
SF) Work includes: removal of partitions, stairway and foundation, HVAC
system (excluding reused existing mechanical support equipment),
plumbing, and electrical wiring and lighting; New work to provide a
mixture of private and group office space along with scattered storage
spaces, computer rooms, conference rooms, toilet rooms and break
rooms; New interior wall of concrete masonry units and gypsum wallboard
on metal studs; new acoustical tile ceilings; New floor finishes
include: carpet, ceramic tile and resilient flooring; New wood and
aluminum doors; New wet pipe fire sprinkler system; New mechanical HVAC
ductwork and modifying existing boiler and air conditioning unit; New
fintube radiators; Electrical wiring and lighting; and fire detection
and alarm system. 3rd floor (10,330 SF) will be left intact and
undeveloped except for adding wet pipe fire sprinkler system, fire
detection and alarm system, and access to the new elevator tower.
3-Story Elevator Shaft Addition incl: exterior wall of concrete masonry
units and hydraulic elevator with 2500 pound capacity. Site Work incl:
removal of concrete sidewalks, trees and shrubs, and electrical and
gas service lines; new concrete sidewalks and fire access road; new 56
stall asphalt parking lot; new landscaping includes: trees and shrubs,
sodding and irrigation system; new 315 LF 6-inch gas line; new 100 LF
6-inch fire and water lines; new padmounted transformer, communications
line and underground electrical line. The estimated construction cost
of this project is between $1,000,000 and $2,500,000. Contractor's
Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor
will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to
proceed and complete the work 365 calendar days after receipt of Notice
to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case
of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and
payment bonds will be required. All requests for solicitation packages
should be made in writing and no later than 14 days prior to bid
opening. After such time, packages will be furnished if supply is
available. It has been determined that the number of sets be limited to
one (1) per firm. Ordering of plans and specifications shall be by

Address for Parcel Delivery Service, Telephone and Fax Phone Numbers
(with Area Code), Level of Participation (General Contractor,

changes during the advertisement period, resubmit the information.
