COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF DECEMBER 8,1997 PSA#1987DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPUTER SOFTWARE CODE The U.S. Army Research
Laboratory announces the development of a computer software code (a
finite element pre-and post-processor) which enables ply-level details
within thick multilayered composite structures to be computed in a
realistic, computationally efficient manner. This software code has
been given the acronym "LAMPAT" and serves as a valuable design and
analsis tool for thick composite structures, significantly reducing the
time and effort associated with material property input and
interpretation of ply-level stress and strain results (failure
assessment). The code is entirely compatible with the commercially
available software package known as PATRAN. The capabilities of this
code will be of interest to all parties investigating failure modes of
thick composite materials in marine, aeronautical, automotive and
civil engineering applications. This software code has been patented
and is being made available for licensing. Specific details relative to
the patent are as follows: U.S. Patent #: 5,419,200;issue date: 30 May
1995; inventors: Bruce Burns, Travis Bogetti; Title: Method For
Assessing the Effects of Loading Forces on a Composite Material
Structure. Contact Mike Rausa at 410-278-5028 or visit
