301-480-3345 The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is conducting a
market survey to determine the availability and potential technical
capability of small businesses to provide the following multiple award
requirement wholly or partly as outlined below. The National
Institutes of Health (NIH), National Center for Research Resources
(NCRR), Veterinary Resources Program has a requirement for various
strains and stocks of barrier reared and maintained rabbits, rats,
mice, hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs, of the specified health
status, sexes, ages, weights, pregnant, modified surgically, technical
procedures, embryo cryoperservation and rederivation services,
quarantine services, MAP, RAP & HAP testing of biological samples,
antibody production, blood, tissues, organs, DNA, crates and shipping,
as requested by individual orders to meet the needs of NIH
Investigators. Deliver to the National Institutes of Health (NIH),
Bethesda, Maryland, National Institute of Environmental Health
Sciences, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, National Institute of
Drug Abuse, National Institute of Aging, Gerontology Research Center,
Baltimore, Maryland, and various other delivery points, as specified on
individual orders. The Contractor shall be accredited by the
Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care
International (AAALAC) or shall be eligible for accreditation.
Contract animal health programs and procedures shall be compliant with
the latest version in effect of the NIH Guide for the Care & U se of
Laboratory Animals and the PHS Policy on Humane Care & Use of
Laboratory Animals. Contractors shall have an Assurance Document on
file with the NIH, Office for the Protection from Research Risks (OPRR)
and be registered with the USDA for Animal Welfare Act covered species.
The Contractor shall be regularly engaged in the breeding, raising, and
shipping of the animals described. The animals, tissues, organs, and
blood or serum supplied under this contract shall be maintained and
collected inthe Con tractor's facilities. Firms must provide
information that provides evidence of their capability to meet the
requirements above either partially or wholly. This capability
statement must also state business size, annual receipts (average gross
revenue) for the last three Fiscal Years, and whether or not the firm
has been approved as a small business by the SBA under the applicable
SIC code. Capable firms should provide two (2) copies of a capability
statement to the above noted address within fifteen (15) business days
from the date of this notice. The period of performance will be for
one twelve (12) month period, with options to renew for six (6)
additional twelve (12) month periods. It is expected that multiple
awards will be made as a result of this requirement. This is a market
