Sources are sought and information requested on material handling equipment that could be modified to perform the requirements listed below. Information gathered will help determine possible candidates for Commercial Off the Shelf/Non Developmental Item (COTS/NDI) applications. Requirements are as follows: The Material Management Department has a pallet rack application and need a solution. Need a method to increase the capacity of a warehouse by utilizing racks and narrow aisles. The racks would be installed in a 128' by 160' area, with racks installed in the center area which measures 160' by 64'. Maximum height of the ceiling is 18' for rack support. The area has a concrete floor. Building support past are wooden and on a 16' center. the support post are no greater than 10" by 10". Load capacity shall be based on 6,000 pounds per beam set. Pallet size would be no larger than 48". An additional area measuring 96' by 64' may be utilized to install racks. Material handling equipment should be quoted towither 4,000 LB or 6,000 LB capacity. The following are examples of size/type of material that will be stored. Palletized material with a minimum of 40"x40"x24" and weight of 500 lbs. Maximum of 48"x48"x72" and weight of 3000 lbs. Specialized racks for storage and issue of cable on spools dispensing material by the foot. Spool diameter, minimum of 24" and maximum 60". Design recommendations should include any manuals (technical, operational, maintenance, etc) and/or descriptive literature that would be helpful in evaluating your system. the following information is of interest to us, availability, warranty information, supply support for maintenance and repair parts, reliability and maintainability (R&M), safety information; and any other information you feel would be helpful in reviewing your system.
