Contracting Officer, (619) 532-1301 DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The work
includes sitework, recyling of construction debris, concrete, masonry,
structural steel, insulation, metal decking, membrane roofing,
preformed metal siding and roofing, doors and windows, lathing and
plastering, gypsum dry wall, tile, carpet, acoustical ceilings, toilet,
plumbing, mechanical and electrical work and incidental related work.
The facilities to be constructed are as follows: Storage Air/Ground
Organic Units M/C (four separate buildings) Hazardous Materials Storage
Building Hazardous Materials Storage Lockers (3 preeeefabricated
lockers) The Storage Air Ground Organic Units M/C facilities are four
separate general purpose storage buildings, serving different Marine
Corps Groups. The largest facility provides storage for
MWSG-37/MWSS-373/MWSS-374, and is located adjacent to MWSS Compound,
east of Altair Avenue. The next largest facility provides storage for
various squadrons within MACG-38, and for various squadrons associated
with 3rd Marine Air Wing. Thisfacility is located north of Building
515, within the MACG-38 compound area. A smaller third facility
provides storage for fixed-wing and helicopter squadrons associated
with MAG-11 AND mag-16. A fourth facility is associated with the new
KC-130 Hangar, and provides storage for fuel tanks and GSE gear. The
hazardous Materials Storage Building provides centralized storage for
hazardous materials, and will serve the entire base. It is specifically
constructed for the purpose of storing hazardous materials, and is
compartmentalized to allow for the storage of incompatible materials.
Secondary containment is provided within each storage compartment. In
addition, a large exterior storage yard abuts the building. This yard
is also provided with a secondary containment area. The Hazardous
Materials Storage Lockers are prefabricated structures. Two of these
lockers are associated with the storage Building for MAG-11 and MAG-16.
A third structure is associated with Station Supply in Building M-264.
With the exceptionof the Hazardous Materials Storage Lockers, the
facilities will all be constructed of a concrete masonry wainscot with
pre-formed metal siding above. ( A low portion of the Hazardous
Materials Storage Building is constructed entirely of concrete
masonry.) The facilities are industrial in nature, and are fronted on
at least one side by a truck loading area. Landscapng will be limited
to the perimeter of the site areas and incidental related work. -- The
estimated cost is "MORE THAN $10,000,000". -- Firm Fixed Price
Contract. -- Contract duration is approximately 550 calendar days. --
This proposed contract will be unrestricted. -- The Standard Industrial
Code is 1541 and the annual size standard is $17.0 million. It is
recommended the subcontracting goals reflect a minimum goal of 5% for
Small Disadvantaged Business Subcontracting effort. Bidders should
request in writing stating IFB number N68711-94-B-1590, with complete
name, address, area code and phone number and whether bidding as a
prime/subcontractor/supplier. -- Telephone requests will not be
accepted. -- The cost of Plans and Specification is $179.00 for each
set. The fee will be non-refundable. The Plan and Issue personnel will
only accept Visa/Master card, cashiers checks and money orders as
payment for plans and specs. -- Mail requests with cashiers checks or
money orders payable to DEFENSE PRINTING SERVICE to Southwest Division,
Naval Facilities Engineering Command (Plan Issue), 1220 Pacific

until your payment has been received by this office. -- Submit one (1)
payment per project. -- Solicitation packages are limited to two (2)
sets per prime and one (1) set per subcontractor/supplier. -- Bidders
responding under this advertisement will not be required to resubmit
request once formally advertised. -- Tentative issue date is on or
about 29 Dec 1997 with an opening date of approximately 28 Jan 1998
