a Request for Quote (RFQ) for the effort to accomplish the fabrication
of composite struts which will be used on the primary structure of the
Microwave Anisotropy Probe (MAP) Spacecraft. The design and analysis of
the struts has been performed by GSFC. Information about the MAP
mission can be found at http://map.gsfc.nasa.gov. The contractor shall
be responsible for management over the term of this effort to assure
they will meet the delivery schedule as stated in the Statement of Work
(SOW) (which will be available when the RFQ is issued), obtain raw
materials, and provide the facilities and labor to fabricate fourteen
(14) struts as specified in GSFC drawing GD2003140-01 (available when
RFQ is issued) and eight (8) struts as specified in GSFC drawing
GD2003140-03 (available when RFQ is issued). Any deviation from the
approved drawings shall require written approval from GSFC. This
procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition
Procedures (SAP). The Governmentdoes not intend to acquire a commercial
item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. The SIC Code and Size Standard are
3812 and 750 employees, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this
procurment is DXC9. The anticipated release date of RFQ
752-66409-0000/920 is on or about 12/12/97 with an anticipated quote
due date of on or about 12/19/97. All qualified responsible sources may
submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman
has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B". The solicitation and any
documents related to this procurement will be available over the
Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0,
Excel 5.0, or PowerPoint 4.0) format and will reside on a World Wide
Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser
