Sexton, Klaus.D.Sexton.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. NASA's Goddard Space Flight
Center (GSFC) intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to Ball
Aerospace Technologies Corporation (BATC) for one Solar Backscatter
Ultraviolet Radiometer/2 (SBUV/2) for the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) N prime Polar Operational
Environmental Satellite (POES). The solicitation will be issued on a
sole source basis in accordance with 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) -- Only One
Responsible Source. The additional "clone" SBUV/2 will be added to NASA
contract NAS5-30355 which is for 3 SBUV/2 instruments. The Contractor
will be responsible for the fabrication, qualification, storage,
storage testing, delivery, post delivery bench testing and other
necessary field support of the SBUV/2 instrument. BATC is uniquely
qualified to perform this work. BATC has in place the necessary
drawings, test equipment, test fixturing, integration and testing
procedures. BATC has 20 years experience in building and testing the
SBUV instrument. This experience makes BATC uniquely qualified to
trouble shoot anomalies during testing, integration onto the
spacecraft, and in-orbit performance. BATC has further developed
special radiometric calibration techniques which are proprietary to
BATC. All responsible sources desiring consideration are requested to
fully identify their interest and capabilities within fifteen (15) days
of the date of publication of this synopsis to the NASA GSFC GOES/POES
