Work includes: miscellaneous structural steel modifications to the navigation lock downstream lift gate by removing some existing steel shapes and plates; furnishing and installing new steel shapes and plates; concrete removal at four locations adjacent to the gate which consists of cutting and chipping approximately 8 feet at each location; filling the four voids with new concrete after the Government completes investigations inside the voids. The navigation lock chamber will not be dewatered. The Contractor must furnish a flat-topped barge for a work platform. Underwater work is not required. Work period will be during the annual Columbia/Snake Rivers navigation lock outage of 1 March 1998 through 16 March 1998. Estimated cost is between $100,000 and $250,000.
