Officer, (310) 363-5088!! . Space and Missile Systems
Center/Operational Contracting Division (SMC/PKOS) is seeking
interested sources for competitively awarding a Scanning Auger
Microprobe/Auger Electron Spectrometer (SAM/AES) system PHI Model 680
or equal. The minimum required characteristics of the system are as
follows: -field emission electron gun coaxially mounted with the
electron energy analyzer -spatial resolution less than 10 nm @ 20 kV
(secondary electron imaging mode) -beam energy spanning the range 0.1kV
to 25kV -AES signal-to-noise ration greater than 550 (10kV, 10nA beam
on Cu LMM Auger peak @ 914 eV) -motorized, computer-driven 5-axis
"compucentic" specimen stage -secondary electron imaging, depth
composition analysis, backscattered electron imaging, and line and area
acquisition and display of Auger information -differentially pumped ion
gun with regulated leak valve, neutral particle diversion and
low-energy charge neutralization capability -sample handling system for
specimen introduction and changing without opening the entire
instrument chamber to atmosphere -provision for fracture of specimens
in ultra-high vacuum and at low (at or near liquid nitrogen)
temperature (with vacuum storage of up to six specimens -second copy of
the data handling and analysis software for off-line data reduction
-all hardware control, data gathering, and data analysis by an IBM
compatible PC (Pentium)-based system operating under Windows NT (or
Windows 95) for compatibility with other computerized laboratory
equipment -service for the above item for one year after warranty
expiration to include unlimited telephone consultation and
troubleshooting support, 72 hour on-site service response and at least
two periodic maintenance visits per year Perspective contractors who
wish to submit information addressing this requirement shall provide,
in writing, documented evidence of their capabilities to meet all of
the criteria listed above. Submit your responses within 15 days of this
announcement. All interested sources may contact Richard M. Higginson
