dcouch@wmata.com. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority
(WMATA) is conducting a market research for potential manufacturing
sources for approximately 250,000 square feet of truncated domed terra
cota paver tile to be utilized or retrofitting existing tile along
Metrorail Station granite platform edges in order to comply with ADA
requirements. The proposed replacement tile is natural clay, six-inch
square shape, 1/2 inch thick, with square edge, flashed red color,
unglazed slip resistant wearing surface, and raised pattern back. All
products shall meet or exceed current ADA requirements andd also ANSI
Standard A137.1 for breaking and compressive strength, moisture
absorption, MOH and other features. This public notice is to request
suppliers to provide WMATA with general referential information on
comparable tile prior to procurement of the intended product. WMATA is
inviting the following types of information: technical data including
detailed product catalogs, main features, performance specifications,
anddurability that meet industry standards and nationally recognized
testing requirements; recommended methods and materials for
installation; standard delivery times after ordering; and listing of
completion of projects of similar scope. This "Source Sought" does not
constitute the solicitation of a price proposal. Responses, as
applicable, will be used to clarify and improve the Invitation for Bid
before it is released in its final form. The IFB is anticipated to be
issued in mid December. The duration of the work is envisioned to be
180 calendar days after Contract award, with 30 days alloted for
submittals, reviews, and approvals; 30 more days projected for tooling
up for manufacturing; 25% of the total quantity of tile expected to be
delivered within an additional 30 days; and the balance of the tile due
within another 90 days. The tile is to be delivered to WMATA warehouses
within the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, Installation of the tile
will be performed under a separate contract. Please forward to WMATA
