COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 22,1997 PSA#1956National Park Service, Office of Concession Program Managagement, 600
Harrison Street, Suite 600, San Francisco, California 94107-1372 M -- NOTICE OF INTENTION TO EXTEND TWO EXISTING CONCESSION PERMITS --
OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK POC James D. Schultz, 9360) 452-4501, ext. 211.
The National Park Service intends to extend two concession permits
providing guided raft tours service expiring on December 31, 1997,
within Olympic National Park for a period of one year. The two current
concessioners have preformed satisfactory and retain their right of
preference pursuant to the provisions of Section 5 of the Act of
October 9. 1965, (79 Stat. 969; 16 U.S.C. 20 et seq.) and 36 CFR 51.5,
under this administrative action to extend the existing permits. This
extension is necessary to allow the continuation of public services
during the completion period of the Development Concept Plan and Site
Plans for the park. The National Park Service will not renew these
permits for an extended period until planning can be conducted to
determine the future direction for concession services at both
locations within Olympic National Park. The necessary planning process
is will have a direct affect on the concession activities and
services. The planning process is expected to be completed within one
year. Until the planning process is completed, it will not be in the
best interest of Olympic National Park to enter into long term
concession permits. For these reasons, it is intention of the National
Park Service to extend the current permits for a period of one year
beginning January 1, 1998. (0293) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0053 19971022\M-0001.SOL)
