Secret Service (USSS) has a requirement to purchase current, full-production 9mm submachine guns that meet the following specifications: (a) SIZE: length of no more that 22 inches with rearward retractable/telescopic stock retracted, and a length of no more than 28 inches with the rearward retractable/telescopic stock extended; (b) WEIGHT: no more than 8 pounds without magazine; (c) chambered for 9mm Luger cartridge and capable of semi-automatic and full automatic fire; (d) barrel and chamber specifications conforming to Sporting Arms Ammunition Manufacturers Institute (SAMI) specifications; and (e) shoulder mounted, magazine-fed with a telescoping or folding buttstock. The 9mm submachine guns shall be supplied with four (4) magazines having a minimum capacity of 30 rounds and a maximum of 40 rounds. The trigger group shall be "safe," "semi-automatic" and "full-automatic." The 9mm submachine guns must be available for purchase in large quantities and delivery shall be to Beltsville, Maryland or as ordered. The resultant contract is expected to be a requirements for a period of performance not to exceed 60 months (one-year basic with four priced one-year options). Other Federal Executive agencies will be allowed to purchase 9mm submachine guns through the resultant contract. The USSS expects to order approximately 600 9mm submachine guns/year in the Basic year and approximately 200/year in each option year. Delivery shall be within 90 days of issuance of an order under the resultant contract. Release of the solicitation is expected on/about 11/10/97. Proposals are expected to be due approximately 1/15/98. All responsible sources may submit a proposal for consideration.
