Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, DC 20585-1615 A -- INTREGRATION, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT FOR THE DECLASSIFICATION
PRODUCTIVITY INITIATIVE SOL DE-RP01-98NN500049 DUE 120397 POC Patrick
Thornton, Contract Specialist, (202)426-0126 Michael B. Raizen,
Contracting Officer, (202)426-0126 This is a modification to previously
issued notice under DE-RP01-97NN50049 issued July 3, 1997. The U.S.
Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Declassification has a need to
develop, test, support and integrate a computer software automated
document declassification system which will initially aid human
reviewers in this process, with the potential to eventually replace
human reviewers. For a full description of this requirement, please
refer to the original synopsis notice. Please note that the maximum
annual level of effort to be required is reduced by slightly over 42%
and is now projected not to exceed approximately 17,300 Direct
Productive Labor Hours (DPLH). In addition, the Office of
Declassification is hosting a one day public workshop on the
Declassification Productivity Initiative (DPI). The DPI workshop will
provide critical insights into this far reaching program and the
classified document review imperatives that necessitated its creation.
It will acquaint the attendee with the past declassification
initiatives and how the Department's latest efforts strive to learn
from past mistakes. The workshop will also provide a clear
understanding of what DPI is today and a vision of where its going in
the future. The workshop will be held on November 6, 1997 (not October
30, 1997 as previously advertised) from 9:00am to 4:00pm in the James
Forrestal Auditorium, DOE Headquarters, 1000 Independence Ave., S.W.,
Washington, DC. Further information on the workshop and additional
references are available on the World Wide Web at
http://128.164.25.200/dpi. All potential offerors interested in being
notified when the actual RFP is released should notify Patrick A.
Thornton by electronic mail at Patrick.Thornton@hq.doe.gov. Such
notification must include a point of contact name, company address,
electronic mail address (preferred) or fax number and the RFP number.
Notification of RFP posting (no paper copies will be available) will be
issued through electronic mail or fax message only. It is the
responsibility of prospective offerors, after receipt of the
solicitation, to notify the designated DOE point of contact of their
intention to propose. Prior to submission of any proposal, potential
offerors are advised that it is also their responsibility to verify any
change in the requirements or closing date at
