U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armament Command is seeking offerors
able to supply Hydraulic Excavators of differing types: Type I --
Equipped with hydraulic quick disconnect/connect coupler, hydraulic
thumb clamp, heavy duty bucket, and utility bucket for general lifting,
digging, lifting, and trenching. Type II -- Equipped with hydraulic
quick disconnect/connect coupler, hydraulic rock drill, and heavy duty
bucket for quarry operations. Type III -- Heavy excavator equipped
with hydraulic quick disconnect/connect coupler, hydraulic impact
breaker, rock bucket, and heavy duty bucket. All types must meet the
requirements of Purchase Description 3805-2204. Special requirements
include MIL-STD-209 Slinging and Tiedown Provisions. Estimated ordering
quantities for each excavator type are: Type I, 104 each; Type II, 16
each; Type III, 15 each; Unrestricted RFP using commercial acquisition
procedures (FAR Part 12) and best value source selection criteria
resulting in a firm-fixed price five (5) year requirements type
contract. FOB Origin for production excavators. The successful
contractor will be required to enter into a long term Direct Vendor
Delivery agreement with the Government for worldwide parts support.
Manuals, special tools, training and other contractor logistics support
will be required. The purchase description will be available for review
on the Internet at the TACOM Acquisition Center Web Site by 10 Oct 97.
As other parts of the solicitation become available, they will also be
placed on the Web Site. The address for the Web Site is

planned to be held approximately three weeks after issuance of the RFP.
