USAID/Philippines intends to modify contract #492-0444-C-00-5073 with Development Alternatives, Inc. of 7250 Woodmont Avenue, Suite 200, Bethesda, MD 20814 to incorporate additional tasks described herein. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. No solicitation will be issued. See Notes 22 and 25. Do not respond unless you have read Notes 22 and 25 fully. We anticipate awarding to the present contractor. The Mid-Term Assessment Report of the Program and communications from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) of the Government of the Philippines (GOP) recommended that several key areas of on-going activities need additional support to achieve program objectives and more sustainable management of forest lands. The recommended additional activities are the development and use of market-based approaches to establish a more sustainable management of forest lands, the strengthening of appropriate environmental monitoring systems, and assistance to the ongoing restructuring of the DENT to respond more effectively to local needs under its new mandate as a development institution, and to explore potential forestry activities within the Zone of Peace and Economic Development (ZOPED) in Mindanao, Southern Philippines.
