A -- CONTINUATION OF THE ALPHA LASER OPTIMIZATION PROGRAM FOR THE DIRECTED ENERGY DIRECTORATE AT THE BMDO SOL SDIO84-92-C-0002 POC POC: Mr. Robert F. Frey, (703) 604-4313, BMDO Reference Number: 97-26 The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO), Directed Energy Directorate (BMDO/TOD) plans to issue a sole source contract modification to TRW, Inc., to continue support under contract SDIO84-92-C-0002, for additional work under the Alpha Laser Optimization Program, which provides Alpha Laser Testing and Advanced Chemical Laser Technology. This contract modification, will include a forty-eight (48) month option extension period from October 1998 through September 2002, to permit fabrication, integration and test of the uncooled reasonator at TRW's Capristrano Test Site, Alpha Facility. This effort is required to do a qualification test of an uncooled reasonator as one of the critical technologies in scaling the current Alpha Laser device to the size, weight and performance constraints essential to developing a viable laser payload element for any future space laser system or demonstration. Award of the modification for this performance under contract SDIO84-92-C-0002 will be made pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), only one responsible source, based on a determination that award to any other source would result in unacceptable delays in fulfilling BMDO requirements.
