Integration plans to acquire seat management services. The Seat
Management contract is intended to afford Government agencies a new way
of acquiring desktop computing services to support general purpose, and
scientific and engineering environments. Under the Seat Management
concept, the Government will acquire integrated services and the
required components to include (1) desktop computers, servers, and
associated peripherals, (2) local area and wide area network
capabilities, (3) commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, (4) help
desk services, (5) maintenance, and (6) training. The Contractor will
provide the assets needed to provide Seat Management services and will
remain the owner of all assets provided. The Government intends to
acquire desktop computing services and support as a utility and pay for
them on a per "seat" basis in an integrated fashion from a single
source. The Seat Management contract is a 10 year, Governmentwide,
indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ), multiple award
contract. It is anticipated that at least one of the multiple awards
will be made to a small business concern. Task orders for client
specific requirements will be competed under the master contract. The
RFP will be issued on about October 1, 1997. The Standard Industry Code
for this acquisition is 4813. For this acquisition, a business concern
is deemed to be a small business when it has no more than 1500
employees. The Government will not distribute printed copies of the
RFP. It will be made available to industry through the Internet on the
