1997, 1 PM -- 4 PM, GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY, VA (SN 97-33) The Defense
Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) will present an industry
briefing on the AFSS program on 8 October 1997, time: 1 pm -- 4 pm,
registration open at 12 noon, Briefing Room 318, George Mason
University, 3401 N. Fairfax Dr, Arlington, VA. POC: Dr. David Fields,
DARPA/TTO, FAX (703)-696-2204. All interested commercial, educational,
private and government sponsored research and development
organizations are invited to attend. The objective of the AFSS program
is the design, development, and demonstration of affordable,
containerized, platform independent indirect-fire weapons systems
capable of performing a variety of missions such as ground attack, air
defense, and surveillance, and which can be remotely fired and
robotically deployed in a variety of military scenarios. The program
will develop a container-launcher system and a family of compatible
munitions with precision guidance and terminal seekers and will develop
subsystem technologies (seekers, propulsion, guidance) which result in
lower production cost or capability enhancement. The purpose of this
briefing will be to provide potential offerors information concerning
DARPA program goals and objectives, and to provide a venue where
interested parties can identify possible teaming arrangements. This
briefing is unclassified. Pre-registration is not required but is
encouraged. Pre-registrants will have priority for seating. There is no
registration fee. To pre-register, please fax one list of attendees
with a designated point of contact on company letterhead to STA, FAX
(703) 522-0367, marked to the attention of DARPA: Dr. David Fields or
e-mail the list to dfields@darpa.mil not later than 1 October 1997.
