Telephone No. 541/465-6506 A project to construct a new paved trail of approximately 1,100 feet through lava, four interpretive sign bases will be constructed, and the existing stairway up to the lower entrance will be covered with lava and the railing removed. This project is located on the McKenzie Ranger District, 55 miles east of Eugene Oregon. Estimated start work date is June 1, 1998. A pre-bid showing will be conducted at the project site at 12:00 pm on September 30, 1997. This pre-bid showing is being held at this early date due to inaccessibility due to snow at the time bids are due. The project site may be reached by traveling east from Eugene Oregon on Highway 126 approximately 55 miles; then take Highway 242 east approximately 19 miles to the Dee Wright Observatory. Contract performance time is 90 calendar days. Government's estimate is between S100,000 and S250,000. This contract is NOT set-aside for small business pursuant to Public Law 100-656, Small Business Competitive Demonstration Act. (0261)
