Officer, (937) 255-4059 The Common Avionics Directorate of the
Subsystems Program Office intends to modify existing contracts,
F33657-93-C-0002 (Honeywell GNO, Clearwater, FL) and F33657-94-C-2181
(Litton G&CS, Woodland Hills, CA), to continue the acquisition of the
nondevelopmental item (NDI) Embedded Global Positioning System/Inertial
Navigation System (GPS/INS), also called EGI, for the Army's AH-64,
OH-58 and Special Operation Forces helicopters; the Navy's AH-1W,
F/A-18, F-14, T-45, EA-6B, and S-3/ES-3A aircraft; and the Air Force's
F-15, F-16, A-10, KC-135, and T-38 aircraft for an additional five
years. These contracts for this tri-service program, include NDI EGI
integration units, missionization (modification) of software and
hardware for platform-specific interfaces, integration/flight test
support, and data; plus continued production effort, including
warranty, contractor logistics support, spares, data, and foreign
military sales. Contract modifications will extend the period of
performance for these items through March 2004. An Ombudsman has been
established for this acquisition. The purpose of the Ombudsman is to
receive and communicate serious concerns relative to this effort. The
Ombudsman does not diminish the authority of the Program Director or of
the Contracting Officer, but communicates the concerns, issues,
disagreements, and recommendations of their sources to the appropriate
Government personnel. Potential offerors should use established
channels to request information, pose questions, and voice concerns
before resorting to use of the Ombudsman. When requested, the Ombudsman
will maintain strict confidentiality as to the identity of his/her
