54 -- LIGHTWEIGHT MULTI-PURPOSE SHELTER (LMS) SOL W13G07-CBD7-0048 POC Contract Specialist ROBERTA CURTIS (508) 233-4024 (Site Code DAAK60) The U.S. Army Soldier Systems Command and PM Soldier Support have a requirement to acquire up to 85 each Lightweight Multi-Purpose Shelters (LMS) from Gichner Shelter Systems, Dallastown, PA and/or from Marion Composites, Marion, VA, on a limited competitive basis under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. These items are required to fulfill existing mission requirements and to establish a minimal stock level to meet anticipated requirements until a competitive procurement is conducted. An announcement regarding the competitive procurement will be released in the CBD in the 4th quarter of 97. The competitive acquisition will be conducted using a performance specification. Offerors will be expected to design and propose a LMS based on the performance specification. In order to insure competition on the follow-on acquisition this limited source acquisition will be conducted using the existing detailed specification and will be conducted between the two identified contractors who have produced in accordance with this detailed specification and who currently or recently have been manufacturing this item.
