Road,Mail Stop 285, Menlo Park, CA 94025-3591 66 -- SEISMOGRAPHS DUE 093097 POC Maribel Torres (650)329-4171 E-MAIL:
Maribel Torres, (650)329-4171, mtorres@isdmnl.wr.usgs.gov. This
notification is to modify solicitation No. 123485 to read as stated
below: The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Menlo Park, California,
intends to place on a sole-source basis a purchase order with Terra
Technology, Redmond, Washington. The seismographs will be deployed as
part of the University of Washington strong-motion seismograph network
in the Puget Sound region. The UW and the USGS have a formal
coperative agreement to conduct earthquake hazard research in
Washington and Oregon. The University's strong-motion Network currently
consists of three (3) Terra Technology Corporation (Redmond, WA) IDS-24
digital data recorders. The UW technical staff has invested a
substantial amount of electronics and software engineering to install
these instruments in the field and get them working. The staff has
become familiar with the total Terra Technology system, both hardware
and software. Because of this, we believe that repesents the best use
of USGS and University resources to purchase three more seismographs
that are fully compatible with the seismographs already in the field.
