This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number NHLBI-PS-97-169, is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). The solicitation/contract will include all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) June 1997 Edition. The items to be acqu ired: Sumitomo Electric Lightwave Corporation, Fusion Splicer, quantity One (1) each, with the following components: (1) Model Type-35SE-RC Fusion Splicer with rotary Chucks, built in tensile TFST HFATER, work table, cooling tray, shipping case spare parts kit, power cord, and operation manual. (2) Model FCP-21, compact high precision fiber cleaver, 900um and 250 um fiber coating, 9-16mm variable cleave length. (3) Model JR-11 250um/900um jacket remover. (4) Model FPS-1 Fiber protection sleeves 60mm length (STD Length) 50 sleeves/package. The Fusion Splicer, shall have the following capabilities: Automatic splicing operation for single-multi-mode fibers. Ability to store at least five different sets of splicing parameters for different types of fibers. Core alignment method. Capability of manually aligning and splicing polarization-maintaining fibers. Built-in-speed (90 seconds) heater for protective fiber sleeves. Rapid, clean, and reproducible cleaves of single fibers, of either 80 or 125 um di ameter, and various coating thicknesses. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code 3826, Size Standard 500 employees will be used for this requirement. Interested vendors capable of furnishing the government with the equipment specified in this synopsis should submit a quotation to the below address. The quotation shall include the itemized price, the period of delivery, prompt payment terms, Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), Dun & Bradstreet Number (DUNs), and descriptive literature of th e product quoted identifying all of the specifications. The quotation must reference "Request for Quotation" #NHLBI-PS-97-169. Quotations will be due fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this synopsis.
