INNOVATIVE RESEARCH (SBIR) PROGRAM FOR FY98 SOL DOC 98-1 DUE
011498.Proposals are sought from small business firms for participation
in the DOC SBIR program. The SBIR program is a uniform three-phase
program which implements Public Law 102-564, the "Small Business
Research and Development Enhancement Act of 1992." The purpose of Phase
1 is to conduct feasibility related experimental or theoretical
research or research and development (R&D) in order to determine the
scientific or technical merit/feasibility of concepts/ideas as a
prerequisite to further DOC support under Phase 2. Individuals
receiving awards under Phase 1 will be eligible to compete for Phase 2
contracts. The following are NOAA research topics available for Phase
1: Atmospheric and Hydrological Sciences, Ocean Observation Systems,
Living Marine Resources, Ocean Science, and Cartography and Information
Systems. The following are NIST research topics available for Phase 1:
Quality Assurance, Advanced Technology Program, Electronics and
Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Science and
Technology, Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Building and
Fire Research, and Information Technology. To obtain copies of the
