E-MAIL: Erick N. Lupson, Erick.N.Lupson@lerc.nasa.gov. NASA Lewis Research Center intends to procure seven (7) GRADE PGX MOLDED GRAPHITE BLOCKS from the UCAR Carbon Company Clarksburg, WV. The graphite blocks will be stacked to form a core within a 3 megawatt induction heater. The heater is used to heat gaseous nitrogen, flowing at 128 pounds per second at a pressure of 1200 psig, to a temperature from ambient to 5000 degree Fahrenheit. Each graphite block being 24.125 inches (+ 1.00 inches, -- .125 inches tolerance) in height and 72.00 inches (minimum) in diameter. Interested firms have 15 days from publication on the NAIS or Commerce Business Daily (CBD) to submit their qualifications and capabilities. Such qualifications and capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days without the required information will be considered non-responsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract, on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
