Sercvice P-3 Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft number six. The U.S.
Customs Service intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with
Lockheed Martin Aircraft Center, 244 Terminal Road, Greenville, South
Carolina, 29605, for the acquisition of Phased Depot Maintenance for
P-3 AEW since Lockheed Martin is the sole manufacturer and has
developed all changes and modifications to the P-3 aircraft. This type
of critical engineering analysis is paramount to the safety and
airworthiness of the P-3 aircraft system and its subsystems. Lockheed
has the specialized facilities, cradles, and special support tooling
specifically devoted to the P-3 airframe as well as the unique
configuration requirements. This contract action is subject to the
availability of funds. This is not a formal solicitation. See Note 22.
