COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 10,1997 PSA#1927SERVICES ENTITLED "BIOLOGICAL DECONTAMINATION DEVICE" The U.S. Army
Chemical and Biological Defense Command (CBDCOM) and the Edgewood
Research Development and Engineering Center (ERDEC) anticipate
negotiations with OptiMetrics, Inc., Ann Arbor, Michigan, on a
non-competitive basis to add work to Contract #DAAM01-96-C-0009. The
contract modification is to produce a preliminary design for
installation of a high intensity broad-banded pulsed-light technology
system on a naval ship for the purpose of decontaminating the air
circulated through the ship. This effort will include: (a) study of the
ventilation and electrical systems of a chosen platform to establish
design requirements; (b) generation of a requirements document; (c) a
materials study to identify materials and coatings applicable for use
in the reflective duct surrounding the pulsed light that will be
effective in a naval environment; (d) a preliminary design of the power
system for the ship installation; (e) a preliminary design of the
installation of the pulsed-light device(s) and reflective material
within the ship's ventilation system; (f) a final report documenting
the design effort. If any responsible source other than OptiMetrics can
fulfill the above requirements using new decontamination technologies
that have the potential to equal or exceed the performance of the
pulsed-light technology, and wishes to submit a proposal, it will be
evaluated. See Note 22. E-MAIL: Click here to contact the contract
