Myron L. Kemerer, Myron.L.Kemerer.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. NASA/GSFC plans to
issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Products and services grouped
into service levels according to function and performance requirements.
These include Desktop systems, including Science and Engineering
workstations,Servers performing general use functions (e.g., Email and
Internet),Database and other servers as appropriate,Intra-center
communications systems, including Local area networks Voice, FAX,
Pagers, Audio/Video, and RF/Wireless systems, Cable plant services,
ODIN system engineering Standard support services and Server system
administration. Also included are Help Desk support, training, system
administration network support services, including network management.
Additionally, there will be the requirement to provide in the manner
proposed by the offeror, hardware and standard COTS software,
installation, maintenance, shared services (e.g., file, print, etc.),
and network access. Technology refreshment will occur on the seats
provided as well as the communications infrastructure. This will be an
Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract for use by all NASA
centers, and available to tenant Government agencies on NASA or
NASA-supported sites (e.g., the Air Force at Patrick Air Force Base).
The contract will have a nine year ordering period with the delivery
orders having one three year basic period and two three year option
periods. The draft RFP was issued on 8/29/97 with the actual RFP being
issued in mid November. All interested sources should review the

with potential prime offerors during the week of Sept 22, 1997 as
stated in the RFP cover letter. those prime offerors interested in
meeting with NASA officials should send an e-mail to the address stated
in this notice prior to September 12, 1997. Due to time limitations, it
is requested that only those offerors intending to prine request
meeting time. At the end of the one-on-one meetings, NASA will post a
list of the potential prime vendors for review. The Government intends
to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12. All responsible
sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency.
An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Note "B". The solicitation and
any documents related to this procurement will be available over the
Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Word and RTF format and
will reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed
using a WWW browser application. The WWW address, or URL, of the

shall notify this office of their intent to submit an offer. It is the
offeror's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of the
solicitation and amendments (if any). Potential offerors will be

amendments (if any). Hard copies may be obtained from the identified
point of contact; however, the closing date for the hard copy received
shall be the same as the solicitation, inclusive of any amendments,
