COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 25,1997 PSA#1916Immigration & Naturalization Service, Procurement Division, 425 I St.,
NW, Room 2208, Washington, DC 20536 D -- AUTOMATED RECORDS TRACKING APPLICATION DUE 100597 POC Robert
Beaty -- Contract Specialist -- (202) 514-0032 THIS NOTICE WILL NOT
RESULT IN A SOLICITATION BEING ISSUED. NO CONTRACT AWARD IS ANTICIPATED
AS A RESULT OF THIS NOTICE. The Immigration and Naturalization Service
is interested in receiving information about commercially available
automated records tracking applications which will support records
management activities for the over 45 million records it maintains.
Records to be managed are contained in file jackets identified and
tracked by the use of a unique identification number. An existing
system converts this number into a 2 dimensional bar-code which is
applied to the file jacket. Physical location information, and the type
of records transaction required at any given time are also reduced to
bar-codes which allows for the records transactions, records locations,
auditing, and actual unique records identifier all to be bar-coded and
consequently to be executed by using either keyboard or reader (wand).
The application/system proposed will have to support a centralized
records storage environment containing at a minimum 30 million records.
It will have to support up to 30 thousand users at over 400 locations
across the United States. The location of each records will need to be
accounted for down to the individual user. Requests, file creations,
shipments, file retirements, consolidations of files, and other
fundamental records management and maintenance functions must be
supported. National and local audits, national reconciliations, error
and exceptions reports, statistical management information, dynamic
system reporting, and the ability to easily interface with other INS
casework and mission systems. Responses should include as much
information as possible relating to the database management system
employed, the program languages involved, the overall system
architecture, and any real world business enterprises which are
currently using the application. THE INS WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
ANY COST RESULTING FROM BUSINESSES RESPONDING TO THIS NOTICE. NO PHONE
CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED IN REFERENCE TO THIS NOTICE. (0233) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0027 19970825\D-0010.SOL)
