labor, material, equipment and services for Drydock and Dockside Repair
for the USCG 140 FOOT CUTTERS AND BARGES located within the Great
Lakes. This requirement may result in the award of multiple contracts.
Contracts will be Requirements Type Contracts. Contracts will be for
a Basic Year with Four (4) Option Years, to be exercised at the Coast
Guard's discretion. The items which may be performed but are not
necessarily limited to Drydock Repairs and Dockside Repairs are as
follows: (1) Welding Repairs, (2) Air Test Various Compartments, (3)
Remove Lower Rub Rail, (4) Seachest Strainer Stud Modification, (5)
Overhaul and Test Pilothouse Doors, (6) Renew Doors, Hatches, and
Scuttles, (7) Erect Mast Staging, (8) Renew Mast Support Cables, (9)
Clean In-Place Main Propulsion Motor and Main Propulsion Generator,
(10) Renew Main Propulsion Motor, (11) Inspect and Align Propulsion
Motor and Shaft, (12) Perform a Load Test of the #1 & #2 Propulsion
Generators, (13) Remove, Inspect, and Reinstall Propeller Shaft, (14)
Renew Shaft Coupling Bolts and Machine Shaft Coupling, (15) Overhaul
Shaft Seal, (16) Renew Shaft Covering, (17) Straighten Shaft, (18)

Tanks -- Barge, (91) Preserve Barge Buoy Deck, etc. It is anticipated
that there may be two (2) Dockside Availabilities and two (2) Drydock
availabilities per year. The 140 FOOT CUTTERS AND BARGES include USCGC
BISCAYNE BAY, NEAH BAY, KATMAI BAY, BRISTOL BAY AND Barge, and MOBILE
BAY AND Barge. The Government obligation under this solicitation is
contingent upon availability of appropriated funds for which payment
for contractual purpose can be made. The place of performance is
restricted to the Great Lakes. All referenced documents are available
for viewing at 300 East Main Street, Suite 500, Norfolk, VA. A charge
of $100.00 is required in the form of a certified check or money order
made payable to the U.S. Coast Guard for requested drawings. All
businesses, large and small, are encouraged to submit bids for the
subject requirement under the Small Business Competitiveness
Demonstration Program. Plans and specifications will be issued on or
after 17 SEP 97. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall
be considered by the United States Coast Guard. "This Notice is for
