The Dahlgren Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA is soliciting proposals on a sole source/brand name only basis, for a fixed price contract for Metrum, Div of Bell Tech Inc tape recorder model VLDSBSBNSC including: 10.4 gigabyte capacity; 110/220 volt, 50-60 Hz; technical manual; ST120 certified data cassettes; regulatory (UL, CDE, and TUV listed); 12 month warranty; 16 megabyte buffer; native interface; standard front panel; standard enclosure, quantity 1 each and touch screen controller model TSCONSNO, quantity 1 each in accordance with the following specifications: streaming mode data transfer rate: 800K bits/sec to 32mbits/sec minimum recording range; burst mode data transfer rate of up to 160 mbits/sec; record PCM data and time code data at same time; record data on a path oriented at a 6 degree angle across the 1/2 inch tape; storage of at least 10GBytes per tape using T-120 tapes; 44 minutes on record time per tape as maximum data transfer rate and proportionally longer record times for slower average data transfer rates (EG 88 minutes for 16MBits/sec rate); use Reed-Solomon error condition codes to compensate for tape flaws and surface contamination; at least a 16MByte internal data buffer.
