The U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground, AZ intends to negotiate on a sole source basis and award a contract to Trimble Navigation, Post Office Box 3642, Sunnyvale, CA 94088 for the maintenance of two Vehicle Tracking Systems. Trimble Navigation is the original equipment manufacturer and the maintenance of the systems can only be performed by Trimble Navigation because all data relative to the systems that is necessary for system maintenance and support is proprietary to Trimble Navigation. It is anticipated that the contract will be for a base period of contract award through 30Sep98 and will contain two one-year option periods. See Note 22. (0217)
