The Coastal Systems Station (CSS), DD, NSWC, requires services for support of its Local Area Network (LAN) and Personal Computer (PCS) systems. The LAN is comprised of approximately 70 buildings each connected via IEEE 802.7 standard RF coaxial or Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) cabling systems. Network connections within each building are accomplished using IEEE 802.3 standard ethernet or twisted pair cable plants. There are approximately 1300 clients on the network. Maintenance of all hardware and software utilized on the network is required. The CSS will maintain an inventory of LAN hardware for use by the contractor in maintaining the LAN. Addition of user systems to the LAN, to include installation of network interface cards into the PC to be connected and installation of all software onto the PC, will also be accomplished. Detailed knowledge of Novell NetWare and Windows NT Network Operating Systems (NOS), and Microsoft Backoffice products including Windws NT Server, Microsoft Systems Management Server, and Microsoft SQL Server is required. Detailed knowledge of desktop operating systems including all versions of MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows, UNIX, Macintosh, and OS/2 is required. Detailed knowledge of electronic messaging applications including all versions of Lotus cc.Mail, Microsoft Exchange, and SMTP is also required. Other requirements include, but are not limited to: Troubleshooting and repair of network hardware and software problems/failures; Network engineering to support expansion/modification of the network; Network monitoring and remote administration; Maintenance of the LAN based video distribution system. Configuration management for the LAN will be accomplished by the contractor. In addition, CSS intends to convert buildings from thick ethernet to thin ethernet. The contractor may be tasked to support the rewiring of these buildings. The contractor will be required to provide maintenance for approximately 2500 PCs and associated peripheral equipment. These PCs are from a wide variety of manufacturers. Peripheral equipment includes monitors, printers (all types), disc drives (including external/removable), pen plotters, mouse/trackball, graphics tablets, and similar pointing/digitizing devices, CD-ROM drives, and modems. Contractor will be required to supply all required repair parts. Knowledge of various desktop operating systems and software products will be required to facilitate troubleshooting. In support of the LAN and PC maintenance effort, the contractor will be required to staff a User Service Desk to answer user's telephone requests for LAN and PC maintenance support. The primary place of performance for all actions will be the Coastal Systems Station, DD, NSWC, 6703 West Hwy 98, Panama City, FL 32407-7001. It is anticipated that this contract will be a firm-fixed price delivery order contract, over a five year period of performance. This contract will be awarded under FAR Part 12 procedures.
