The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has a requirement for installation of a structural mezzanine for the support of heavy duty engine testing equipment at its National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory, 2565 Plymouth Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan. A 15' X 72' mezzanine area is required, with a bar grating deck surface that is supported at an elevation of 12'-3" above the building floor. Work shall include the installation of a staircase for personnel access to the mezzanine, along with several doors on the adjacent exterior wall of the building at the mezzanine level for ingress/egress of personnel and equipment. The mezzanine shall be supported on square steel columns and pads from the test cell floor of the building, which is 5-6" of reinforced concrete. These columns shall support the structural connections for any beams, C-channels, and joists used to support the steel open bar grate deck surface. The load capacity of the mezzanine shall be rated for 150 psf. A firm-fixed-price contract is contemplated. The anticipated contract performance period is 120 calendar days after contract award. The estimated price range is between $25,000 and $100,000. Past performance and price will be the principal evaluation criteria.
