as a Notice of Intent to award a contract to Teledyne Brown Engineering
Energy Systems pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart
6.302-1. As previously detailed in the May 21, 1997 Sources Sought CBD
announcement, the services being acquired under the proposed contract
include supporting field operations on High Performance Generator
Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators; refurbishment and
regassing/safety inspection of HPG MOD-3 RTGs; fabrication and delivery
of miscellaneous refurbishment spare parts; thermoelectric module and
RTG component development and testing; management/engineering liaison
and field-operations support; and the design of RTGs (including heat
source) and construction of thermoelectric converters and Ground
Support Equipment. The qualifications required to perform the tasks in
the Statement of Work include: (1) ability to perform data
measurement, interpretation, and analyses of predicted RTG extended
life performance and application; (2) knowledge and experience in the
design, characteristics, and functional application of terrestrial
RTG's in the 5 to 180 Watt(e) range; (3) personnel with DOE ~Q~ secret
and special DOD security clearances (4) the technical capability to
assist DOD in normal mission operations (e.g., system studies, RTG
performance predictions, handling and integration requirements, safety,
etc.), and also be able to respond to emergencies that could jeopardize
the mission, RTG or cause a radiological hazard, (5) posession of
fabricating facilities; (6) an adequate Nuclear Quality Assusrance and
Radiological Program. The anticipated period of performance is
September 30, 1997 -- September 29, 2006. This is not a request for a
